SAVORlife: Have a Great Meal and Support 19 Valley HIV Service Organizations

SAVORlife: CREATE A MENU, HOST A DINNER, INVITE YOUR FRIENDS, HELP AUNT RITA’S SUPPORT HIV/AIDS SERVICE AGENCIES THROUGHOUT MARCH

PHOENIX, Ariz.: All you have to do is eat and you can be supporting 19 Valley-based HIV/AIDS service organizations during the eighth annual SAVORlife fund-raising event.

Presented by The Apothecary Shops, SAVORlife participants simply host a dinner for friends anytime in March and ask for a minimum $35 donation to Aunt Rita’s, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that raises money for central Arizona agencies providing HIV/AIDS prevention and education programs and services for those living with HIV and AIDS.

In 2011, $228,000 from SAVORlife and AIDS Walk Phoenix & 5K Run was distributed equally to the 19 agencies.

SAVORLife kicks off this year on Feb. 29 with “Leap into SAVORlife when Ticoz and The Coronado Café will donate 25 percent of their proceeds to the benefit.

Anyone making the minimum donation receives a complimentary ticket to the culminating event, the SAVORlife Soiree, Friday, March 30 at the Phoenix Art Museum.

The process is simple: sign up at www.savorlifephoenix.org to host a dinner in your home, a restaurant or even your workplace anytime in March and invite your friends.

At-home or workplace dinner menus are up to the host. Previous selections ranged from a Caribbean-themed dinner to an Italian feast featuring the host family’s prized marinara recipe to “Southern Fried Delight.”

In addition to The Apothecary Shops, additional sponsors include: The Whoopee Baking Company, Southwest Airlines, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Echo Magazine, Phoenix Pride, Pride Guide Arizona, One Community and QTalk Arizona.

This year’s Event Chair is Skip O’Neill, a chef and one of the original founders of Aunt Rita’s Foundation.

Benefiting agencies are: One n Ten, Agape Network, The Bill Holt Clinic at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Chicanos Por La Causa, Compassion in Action, Concilio Latino de Salud, Ebony House, Heal International, HIV/AIDS Law Project, HIV Care Directions, Joshua Tree Feeding Program, Inc., McDowell Healthcare Center, Native Health, The Phoenix Shanti Group, Project Hard Hat, Southwest Behavioral Health Services, Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS, Terros and UCAN, Inc.
