Phoenix Suns Exec. Rides 500 Miles For HIV/AIDS

Daren Mitch spends his days working for the Phoenix Suns, but has been spending his spare time training for a seven-day bike ride to raise money for HIV/AIDS services.

Mitch, the director of ticket operations for the Phoenix Suns and US Airways Center, will join others to ride 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles as part of the AIDS LifeCycle "Ride to end AIDS."

The event is the world's largest annual, single-event AIDS fundraiser.

This year's ride begins May 31

"The money I'm raising will go ... to provide critical services worldwide for the HIV-positive community," Mitch said.

People from around the world join the event. Since it began in 1993, the AIDS LifecCycle ride has raised more than $200 million.

Each cyclist raises, on average, $6,000.

Mitch hopes to raise $10,000 by the time he takes off for California.
